Library assistants in Sandwell have voted by 97.5 percent in favour of a work to rule—on an 85 percent turnout.
The Unison union members are angry that their “single status” job evaluation did not take into account many of the duties they undertake.
The action is set to begin on Monday of next week.
In a separate dispute, Sandwell council is seeking to withdraw essential car allowances.
Unison members have overwhelmingly voted to reject a “buyout” of the £1,200 a year allowance.
The Labour council is now trying to bypass the unions and write to workers individually with the offer.
The workers are now considering taking action short of a strike involving withdrawing the use of their cars.
