More than 200 people marched through Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis last Saturday against the closure of the island’s coastguard.
The government plans to slash the number of full-time coastguard centres in the area from five to just one. This would mean 250 job cuts.
Coastguard workers joined the demonstration organised by the Safety First Campaign. They marched from the town hall to the rescue centre.
Some 14,500 people have signed a petition against the closure.
