Teachers at St Joseph’s Catholic Academy in Hebburn, south Tyneside, struck on Tuesday and Thursday of last week.

The NUT and NASUWT union members are taking action over redundancy plans and longer hours. 


Workers at Copland school in Brent struck for two days last week against two compulsory redundancies.

The action on Wednesday and Thursday of last week brought together staff in the NUT, NASUWT and ATL unions.


Teachers at St Mary’s Catholic Technology College in Leyland, Lancashire, struck on Thursday of last week after the return of a head teacher.

The NASUWT union members have “deep concerns over poor management practices”.


Elections for general and deputy general secretary of the NUT teachers’ union end on Wednesday of this week. Socialist Workers Party members are part of the Socialist Teachers Alliance, which backs Christine Blower and Kevin Courtney.
