We had a good team out for the bank holiday Monday, even though it was chucking down with rain. We were up at 7am—you have to be if you’re going to get into the flats.
Something’s happening. I’ve stood before here in Burngreave, but people I don’t know keep saying ‘we’re voting for you’. There’s definitely a ‘Galloway bounce’.
Some say they usually vote Labour but feel taken for granted. Labour hasn’t even put a leaflet out here. But the Labour council did spend £20,000 sending out a letter asking where the cuts should be.
We’ve leafleted the whole ward now and started canvassing.
And we’re using Facebook and Twitter.
We’ve also started a blog with photos and stories of local people’s experiences.
