Around 500 people protested against deputy prime minister Nick Clegg’s visit to Sheffield last Friday.

The Lib Dem leader was in town to do a Q&A session—but Sheffield trades council organised a demonstration. Protesters greeted Clegg with shouts of “Tory Boy!”

There were speakers from a wide range of trade unions, the Green Party and the Labour Party, including Sheffield Central Labour MP Paul Blomfield.

Local Labour activists were active in building the demo and many are actively supporting the 3 October Right to Work protest—32 coach tickets were sold.
