Solidarity protests have sprung up in towns and cities across Britain.
Outside the Spanish Embassy in London, Spanish students and their supporters have set up camp, holding rallies and organising meetings every evening in solidarity with the movement.
In Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol and beyond, people have raised banners reading “Nobody expects the Spanish Revolution”.
