Sacked Unite union convenor, Abdul Omer, was waiting for the outcome of his disciplinary hearing as Socialist Worker went to press.
Omer, the convenor at Sovereign buses in west London, was sacked after management claimed he was disrespectful towards a witness at a disciplinary hearing.
If the sacking is upheld by the hearing, the Unite branch’s call for a strike ballot at Sovereign to demand his reinstatement needs to be quickly acted on.
Drivers at Sovereign’s garages at Harrow and Edgware should hold meetings to discuss what immediate action to take.
