Unison union members at Soas in central London are set to strike on Thursday of this week in defence of their victimised branch chair, Joseph Stalin Bermudez.

Stalin was sacked following what the union calls a “deeply flawed and unfair disciplinary process”.

Around 70 percent of those who took part in the ballot voted in favour of strike action.

Stalin, an Ecuadorian migrant worker, was central to the successful Justice for Cleaners and Living Wage campaigns at the university, which won the London Living Wage and union recognition for cleaning staff.
