Lecturers at Halesowen College were set to strike on Thursday of next week in defence of four sacked lecturers.
Management sacked Maths teacher UCU branch secretary Dave Muritu on 20 December last year.
He lost an appeal against the sacking last month.
Bosses sacked three other lecturers, who are also union activists, last month.
Management say the reason is that the workers’ students are failing to reach their potential.
But many lecturers see the sackings as an attack on the union.
Thursday’s strike will be the first walkout to defend the four after UCU members voted overwhelmingly for action. They backed strikes by 75 percent and action short of a strike by 88 percent in a recent ballot.
