There were almost 150 Unite and PCS union members on the noisy picket lines at the Ministry of Defence base in Donnington near Telford.

“It’s been really impressive given the short notice we’ve had in Unite,” said branch secretary Brett Davis. “The main thing people have been asking is, why has it taken so bleeding long? We should have done this a lot sooner”.

The base was almost entirely shut down, with only contractors going in. This reflects the strength of the strike across the Ministry of Defence.

Sites in Chester and Stirling were shut down completely.

Members of the Prospect union either took the day off or respected picket lines.
