Police have raided a number of homes across Britain since the 7 July attacks. A flat in Corfe House, south London, was raided on Friday of last week. Residents have complained about the heavy handed police operation.
Kash Johnson lives in a flat directly across the street from the one raided. He spoke to Socialist Worker.
“I saw about 80 to 100 police and I told my wife something must be going down,” he said.
“Outside my flat there was a sniper on the walkway looking through the sight of his rifle. He was ready to shoot with his finger on the trigger. My wife has just come from the war in Sierra Leone—she was very frightened.
“They took a man out of the flat across the street. He was naked apart from his boxer shorts and he had his hands on his head.
“I saw a boy in school uniform come out. Then he passed behind some trees and I couldn’t see him. When I could see him again he was also stripped to his boxer shorts. Later they took out two women, both with toddlers.
“We don’t know what’s going on in the flat that was raided—no one has spoken to us. I feel scared because the police are watching everyone.”
