Students will march on the government’s department for innovation and skills on Friday of this week to protest against the massive budget shortfall in higher education.
Some £200 million is now missing from the budget.
This will mean 40,000 students missing out on grants, impacting hardest on those who most need the financial support.
The government used increased funding for grants as an excuse for the introduction of tuition and top-up fees, which have seen the cost of education rise out of reach for many students.
