Nestlé executives were met with chants of, ‘Hey, hey, Nestlé, how many kids did you kill today?’ Protesters set off personal alarms, disrupting the sales pitch. The upbeat mood of everyone involved in the protest is now being channelled into building activities for the 30 November protests over the World Trade Organisation.

Middlesex University

STUDENTS OF engineering at Middlesex University, joined by other students, have scored a victory in their campaign against the closure of the university’s engineering school. An activists’ meeting last Wednesday was followed the next day by a picket outside the meeting of the university’s academic and planning committee.

Management were not only scared of a students’ occupation, but also of staff members joining the fight. Management were forced to back down. They promised that all the students affected will be able to finish their courses, and that there will be places for future students as well.
