The government’s constantly shifting plans for higher education funding have thrown students into chaos.

Applications to universities from students living in Britain have dropped by a record 15 percent, according to official figures released last week.

The drop comes after the government pushed through a tripling of tuition fees to up to £9,000 a year.

On top of that, last week 20 universities changed their fees levels. They will charge less than £7,500 a year in order to attract more students with lower A-level grades.

The sudden change won’t help students who have already made decisions on which universities they can afford based on previous fee levels.
