The annual conference of the National Union of Students began in Sheffield this week.
Students at a Unite the Resistance fringe meeting on Monday discussed how to fight back against privatisation on university campuses.
A student from the Sussex University occupation spoke about the struggle there and the importance of students in setting the pace for student and worker action.
The meeting focused on the need for action on every campus against attacks on workers and student services, and on a national level against the marketisation of education.
It was also emphasised that the left’s intervention at the NUS was crucial.
