Trade unionists and campaigners across Britain are gearing up for the Vestas day of action on Thursday of next week.
The campaign by sacked Vestas wind turbine workers on the Isle of Wight has become a focal point in the struggle for jobs and the environment.
Activists in London have organised a rally, demonstration and a direct action stunt on the day of action.
The demo will be at 5.30pm outside the department for energy and climate change, with a meeting in the evening.
In Southampton—where a second Vestas factory has been closed down—activists are organising a rally for green jobs outside the civic centre from 12 noon onwards.
This will be followed by a protest outside the Southampton Vestas plant at 5pm, called by the RMT union and a meeting in the Dockers’ Club at 7pm.
Cardiff climate campaigners will be holding a rally to mark the day of action.
Their event is backed by groups including Cardiff Campaign Against Climate Change, Climate Camp and unions including the RMT and PCS Wales.
Activists from Manchester will be protesting outside at Vestas’ Warrington HQ in the morning. This will be followed by a rally, mass leafleting and banner drops in Piccadilly Gardens in the afternoon.
Teachers have put together a pack of education material and lesson plans to help encourage schools to raise the issue of renewable energy as part of the day of action.
