About 80 anti-war campaigners packed into the Castle Hotel, Neath, on Tuesday of last week to hear one of the leading figures in the anti-war movement call for British troops to be brought home from Iraq.

Lindsey German, national convenor of the Stop the War Coalition, warned that further attacks on both Iran and Syria were being actively considered by the US government.

The meeting was chaired by Phil Cockwell, a Plaid Cymru activist, who said it was one of the best political meetings he had ever attended.

The meeting agreed the war must be at the centre of the forthcoming general election.

Wandsworth Stop the War in south London held a meeting in Tooting last Sunday with George Galloway, Mrs Ahmad, Andrew Murray and local Labour Party candidate Sadiq Khan. Tooting is the home of British political detainee Babar Ahmad. The Stop Political Terror campaign had a stall at the event. The turnout of 130 people rivals our best previous meetings.
