Tom Hayden, one of the US’s leading anti-war and civil rights activists since the 1960s, is set to speak at the London Stop the War demonstration on Saturday.
He told Socialist Worker, “I am coming to Britain to learn more from the anti-war movement about the possibilities of forcing the Blair government out of Iraq.
“Any war rests on a few key pillars — supportive public opinion, funding, soldiers and international alliances.
“Those pillars are clearly crumbling in the US.
“It is very important that the coalition of the willing is declining, with Britain the most important remaining pillar of support for George Bush.”
