Tommy faces threat of jail
TOMMY Sheridan, the socialist Member of the Scottish Parliament, faces jail for protesting against nuclear weapons. Tommy was arrested in February when he was part of a peaceful blockade outside the Trident nuclear base at Faslane.
He was fined 250 but refuses to pay because “I have done nothing wrong in comparison to the immense crime committed by the authorities by keeping nuclear weapons on the Clyde.” At the start of this week Tommy was expecting to be arrested at any time and then hauled off to prison.
He was due to speak at a rally this weekend in support of the socialist candidate in the Falkirk parliamentary by-election, where he could be arrested.
