The Unite union has called for another national strike over pensions in the NHS.
Thursday 10 May was the date agreed for action at a meeting last week of Unite’s national committee for health workers.
Gill George from Unite’s health sector national committee said, “The strike in May will be the next step in a determined fight to defend our pensions and to roll back the attacks we face from the Tories.
“We’re really hoping it will be alongside other unions.”
Unite represents 100,000 health workers across Britain. They struck on 30 November and voted by 94 percent last month to reject the government’s rotten offer on pensions.
“We’ve had a long gap now since November, but our ballot result shows the anger is still there,” added Gill.
“Activists have to go flat out to rebuild this fight. The Tories are desperately unpopular. This is a great time to take them on.”
