Around 90 members of the Unite union took part in the United Left group’s annual general meeting last Saturday.
The main debate took place over opposition to the government’s cuts. The meeting supported the idea of coordinated action across the unions against the attacks.
People argued for the union to encourage all different sectors to look at what action they can take to support that by other groups of workers planned for late June.
There was also a lot of anger against Labour, with even party members feeling that voting Labour won’t stop the cuts. Attendees believed that Labour councils should vote against all cuts.
Meanwhile, the elections to the Unite national executive, which the United Left stood candidates in, were to end on Friday of this week.
