Just over 100 people attended a public sector pay rally in Manchester last week jointly organised by the PCS, CWU and Unison unions.

PCS leader Mark Serwotka was joined on the platform by Ian Taylor, the CWU’s regional organiser, Ian Tomlinson, also from the CWU, Frank Hont, Unison’s regional secretary, and Bryan Beckingham from the NUT teachers’ union.

The main theme of the meeting was unity and how joint action could be organised practically. “We will win if other public service workers join in the dispute against the erosion of public services,” said Ian Taylor.
