Unofficial action gets results. That is the lesson for drivers at bus operator Sovereign in north west London where bosses have now agreed to run a shuttle service to bring drivers back to their garage in Edgware for meal breaks.

The drivers on the 114 route walked out on unofficial strike last week over schedule changes that would mean they could not eat in the depot. After the entire garage walked out, managers agreed to new talks.

This week bosses offered the drivers an £8 a day meal allowance. The drivers were adamant that their dispute was not just about money but about defending dedicated facilities for drivers to take a break.
