Bradley Manning, the whistleblower who exposed US war crimes, was due to hear the verdict in his case as Socialist Worker went to press.
Bradley was a US army intelligence analyst.
He leaked hundreds of thousands of battlefield reports and secret cables between Washington and its embassies to stimulate public debate about the reality of the US’s wars.
He faces charges including “aiding the enemy” and life in jail.
