Members of the RMT transport union on the Victoria Line of London Underground struck over the victimisation of union members for 24 hours from 9pm on Wednesday of last week.
The strike, which was also about passenger safety, forced management to suspend the line.
Management really attempted to up the ante by getting British Transport Police to stand watching us cook on barbecues and enjoying ourselves for the duration of the strike.
They posted a Train Operations Manager (TOM) at one of the staff toilets to ensure we did not use it.
However, when one of our members slipped his guard momentarily he then got a shock when the manager sneaked up behind him while he was relieving himself – we have named him as a peeping TOM.
Meanwhile, management have dug their heels in and upheld the sacking of Carl Campbell at a recent directors’ meeting.
We have launched a tribunal case for unfair dismissal and race discrimination.
Also, they’re still victimising Glenroy Watson, who is currently not driving trains until they tell him the result of an investigation.
They’ve had the result since 28 April but have yet to tell him what it is.
This dispute is really just a glimpse of the main dispute between RMT and management.
