Around 1,200 workers at Heinz’s Kitt Green site, in Wigan, Lancashire, are voting on strikes over pay.
Members of the Unite union are angry that they were offered a below-inflation offer of 3.3 percent this year while shareholders got big bonuses.
Ian Wright, Unite’s deputy convenor at the plant, told Socialist Worker that the bonuses are the final nail in the coffin.
“This dispute is not just about pay but the way we’re being treated,” he said.
The ballot ends on 6 December.
