Over 150 people attended an inspiring meeting in Tottenham, north London, last week. It was called by Haringey Trade Union Council under the slogan, “It’s time to Unite the Resistance in Haringey”.
Carole Duggan, aunt of Mark Duggan who was killed by police in 2011, talked of a class war by the government on working class people.
Author Owen Jones brilliantly exposed the failure of the Tory austerity programme.
Dee Topping, a local member of the UCU union, described her amazement at the solidarity she received when fighting against her sacking.
Campaigners against benefit cuts, tenants and trade unionists also spoke.
The meeting was the perfect springboard for the struggles ahead.
