Some 200 workers protested at the Westfield construction site in east London on Wednesday of last week.

Electricians on some of Britain’s most high-profile construction sites are fighting de-skilling plans that would mean a 35 percent pay cut.

An electrician from the Blackfriars station site in London told Socialist Worker, “We’re trying to save our jobs for the future—not just for us, but for the trainees coming into the trade.”

Protests were set to take place in London, Manchester and Newcastle on Wednesday.

Manchester rank and file meeting, Saturday 1 October, 12 noon, Mechanics Institute, Princess St, Manchester.
