Who gets bonus, Who gets sacked?
THE SOFTWARE group Misys has awarded its top five executives performance based bonuses totalling 1.3 million. This is despite the group losing 75 percent of its value on the stock market. Chairman Kevin Lomax got an extra 375,000.
This takes his total annual pay to a whacking 752,614. All five directors will also get inflation-busting pay rises ranging from 7.5 percent to 14.2 percent.
MOBILE PHONE giant Motorola shocked workers in Scotland last week by announcing it could cut another 2,600 jobs.
The company axed 3,000 jobs when it closed the Bathgate plant in June. But on Thursday of last week Motorola revealed it was considering more sackings at the East Kilbride and South Queensferry plants.
“Bosses are saying there is nothing to worry about, but that’s what they told the Bathgate workers. There is a real fear we are about to go down the same road,” said one angry Motorola worker.
