Two days of wildcat strike action by refuse workers in Brighton has won concessions.

The workers, in the GMB union, said managers at the Brighton and Hove council depot used “bullying tactics” to increase productivity.

Around 200 depot workers struck from Tuesday of last week after crews were broken up by managers.

Four men have reportedly been moved from one lorry to another as management try to address the problem.

Another worker said his cousin, who also works at the depot, had been “punished” for having time off sick by being put onto another shift. He said, “The workers are fed up with management bullying tactics.”

The workers ended the strike after the four workers who had been moved were returned to their original jobs.
