Workers at Plymouth bed manufacturer Vi-Spring are striking to defend their shop steward .
They are demanding the reinstatement of Jimmy Dent, their GMB union shop steward who the firm sacked this summer.
Workers from different sections of the factory are striking each day.
The GMB says Jimmy was dismissed for insubordination after arranging a routine visit by GMB officer Kevin Mason on 1 July.
Stuart Fegan, GMB organiser for the South West, said, “There is a real strength of feeling among workers.
“This strike is unprecedented. Most industrial action is usually about pay and conditions. These are workers who are striking in support of a colleague.”
Of the firm’s 197 workers, 117 are union members.
