It was with great sadness that Lowestoft SWP learned of the death on 26 October of our friend and comrade Colin Leggett.

Colin was a familiar figure on the left in Beccles and Lowestoft. He was involved in the struggles around the Miners’ Strike, the poll tax, Anti Nazi League and, earlier this year, in Waveney’s victorious vote against the privatisation of council homes.

For most of that time he was a member of the SWP.

For much of his life Colin battled with mental illness but the years spent in academic study and debate created an avid reader and trenchant arguer who took nothing for granted.

Colin was always an activist who fought for a better world and as such will be missed by all of us who knew him.

We send our condolences to his brother and mother.
