Far right Israeli minister Itamar Ben-Gvir says he wants to see 30 to 40 Palestinians slaughtered in Gaza every night.
The security minister said, “There are people there who are not worthy of life. They shouldn’t live. They’re not even people”. He called for more mass killings of civilians, even of those not considered an “active threat” to Israel.
Ben-Gvir openly calls for the ethnic cleansing of the whole of Gaza, saying Palestinians should leave the area in an Israeli occupation that would leave “all of Gaza as ours”.
Another minister running for re-election to the Israeli Knesset, or parliament, has shared an endorsement from British fascist Tommy Robinson. Amichai Chikli is the diaspora affairs minister, whose role supposedly includes responsibility for helping combat antisemitism.
He said, “I will continue to strengthen Israel’s strategic ties with the European right and European street, such as Robinson, who leads a movement of millions of British patriots.”
Robinson opportunistically backs Israeli ministers as part of his targeted attack on Muslims and the Palestine movement. Yet, he promotes the antisemitic Great Replacement Theory.
That is the idea that “elites”—a code word for Jews when used by the far right—are importing Muslim migrants to replace white people in Europe and North America.
Far right Israeli ministers are ramping up their genocidal language as well as embracing fascists like Robinson before elections to the Knesset in October.
It is provoking tensions with the Trump administration. The US backs Israel’s genocide. The terror state plays a key role for the superpower as its watchdog in the Middle East.
But the US and Israel are locked in a dispute about how best to pursue their campaign of terror and ethnic cleansing.
Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy Jared Kushner met with leaders of Hamas on Sunday to discuss the disarmament of the resistance group and a 15 point “peace” plan. Alongside him was Nickolay Mladenov, director of Trump’s Board of Peace and war criminal Tony Blair.
The plan would involve Israeli troops withdrawing and the rebuilding of Gaza under the leadership of a “technocratic government”.
It is a plan to prise Gaza open for plunder by opening it up to the free market.
Trump’s “board of peace” has also sought the support of leaders of Arab states including Egypt and the United Arab Emirates.
But Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected the peace plans. He has refused to withdraw troops from Gaza.
Netanyahu is under pressure from the right, including from Ben‑Gvir, whose Otzma Yehudit party is in a coalition government with Netanyahu’s Likud party.
The Israeli population is overwhelmingly committed to pursuing the onslaught against the Palestinians. For example, a poll reported in the Haaretz newspaper last year found that some 82 percent of Israelis support the idea of expelling all Palestinians from Gaza.
And, despite the talks, Israel has continued its attacks. Its airstrikes wounded at least five Palestinians in a tent encampment at Khan Younis last Sunday, one of whom died.
The international solidarity movement will need to continue to mobilise against Israel, and deepen its links with organised workers.
