Budrus is the name of a village in Palestine on the border with Israel. The Israeli government planned for the apartheid wall to be built through Budrus—but not for the resistance that followed.
This documentary shows ordinary people protecting their land—the olive trees they have watered for generations, their cemetery and their school.
It centres around Ayed Morrar, a local Fatah organiser who unites people in resistance. Hamas, Fatah and Israeli peace activists marched and organised together.
Women were at the forefront of the struggle, facing down Israeli forces to push them off the land.
It is hard viewing at times, as Israeli troops fire live bullets into the village and justify their actions in the most brutal terms.
The film shows that resistance is far from futile, but the struggle for justice is far from over.
