The Turner Prize winning artist Jeremy Deller produces work about mass popular culture and social history.
Frequently his art has an explicitly political theme or reference, though he approaches these subjects from a quirky individual angle.
In 2001 he filmed a reenactment of the Battle of Orgreave from the 1984 Miners’ Strike.
It is showing as part of a general retrospective of Deller’s work at London’s Hayward Gallery.
Other works on show include musical crossovers, including a brass band playing acid house classics and a steel band playing Joy Division cover versions.
