Don McCullin’s work is an inspiration. He exposed himself to repeated trauma to get the photographs that helped define public opinion about the reality of war.
After shooting during the Vietnam war he was effectively blacklisted. The British government refused him a pass to cover the Falklands war.
He was drawn to conflict zones for most of his career. But the horror of the atrocities he witnessed increasingly led him to turn his camera on the victims, not the soldiers.
This exhibition is the largest ever of his work, with over 250 pictures.
McCullin says he is still haunted by these images. You will be too.
