Willy Römer was a photojournalist in Berlin who documented the German revolutionary soldiers and sailors who ended the First World War.
He also captured the Spartacist uprising, mass demonstrations, workers’ strikes and the rise of the Nazis.
His photo agency was one of the most famous in the Weimar Republic. The Nazis closed it in 1935 but by luck his enormous archive survived.
