I can assure you that the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association does not fail to speak out against homophobia from religions other than Islam. Indeed, most of our media work this past few months has been in response to the homophobia of the Catholic church. We treat all homophobia equally.
As humanists, we are deeply concerned with the importance of living a happy and ethical life. In this connection, we think it is rather unfair of you to associate us with unalloyed consumerism. We are also believers in the universality of human rights – indeed, we have long made use of the phrase “gay rights as human rights”, which makes it clear that we view the movement for liberation as a part of the greater movement for human freedom and fulfilment. In this connection, we think it is rather unfair of you to associate us with a ghetto mentality.
