THE DRIVE to war has caused many people to demand that Tony Blair should go. But there are many other reasons why he should be toppled. Blair is also leading a war against workers in Britain. Outrageously this week Blair suggested that people might have to pay to use vital public services.

MILLIONS OF people are poisoned by toxic chemicals which are sold for use as pesticides in the world's poorest countries. These chemicals are banned or heavily restricted for agricultural use in countries like Britain and the US because of their effects on workers who use them.

THREATS, bullying and bribery are the methods the US and Britain have turned to to get a United Nations resolution for war on Iraq. Bush and Blair need nine votes out of the 15 members of the Security Council to get the resolution passed.

THE LIE that refugees are living a life of luxury in "soft touch" Britain was exposed in the High Court last week. Judge Justice Collins ruled that New Labour was forcing refugees to face destitution in Britain or return to the persecution they fled from.

THE LONGEST rail dispute in British history is over. The RMT rail union reluctantly accepted an offer from Arriva Trains Northern for conductors and guards last week. "The deal will still leave us the lowest paid guards of any rail company in Britain," says one union rep.

THE DEMONSTRATIONS last Saturday have plunged Tony Blair into the biggest political crisis of his life. Every commentator knows it. Blair knows it. For days the media has been filled with attempts to understand the demonstrations, and speculation about whether Blair can ride out the storm. Now we have to cause such turmoil that Blair is forced from office. If we don't shift Blair, we allow him to ignore democracy.

MINISTERS REACTED with horror last week when it was suggested that MI5, the army and others had talked up the "terrorist threat" at Heathrow airport. The defence and security services are strictly non-political in such matters, we were told. How embarrassing then that just a day later came confirmation of conspiracies and subversion by just such people. A British army brigadier and up to 20 other soldiers and police officers may be prosecuted for working with Loyalist terrorists in Northern Ireland. Brigadier Gordon Kerr could be accused of conspiracy to murder.

AT LEAST one person from each of 1.25 million households in Britain marched last Saturday, according to a survey in the Guardian. They showed on the streets the anti-war feeling of the clear majority of the population.

THERE ARE many things that stop Tony Blair sleeping at night. One of them is his fear that the union movement may be about to humiliate him again. Two of Britain's biggest and most influential unions, the TGWU and GMB, are about to elect new general secretaries. In both elections the candidates have not been finally decided.

THE SUN newspaper is putting people's lives at risk. Billionaire Rupert Murdoch's rag ran a scare story about refugees "bringing deadly diseases into Britain" on Friday of last week. It says the rise in HIV/AIDS and TB cases is down to refugees and immigrants. The Sun is trying to make cheap, racist propaganda out of serious diseases.

THE US and British governments churned out a barrage of claims to justify war over the last week. US Secretary of State Colin Powell marshalled his case speaking to the United Nations. The British government produced yet another dossier. Barely had Powell finished speaking and the British document been published before much of their "evidence" fell apart.

£22,691 a year. Many workers in Britain dream of getting that amount. That was the amount of the pay rise awarded to Tony Blair's friend, the Lord Chancellor Derry Irvine, last week. Public outrage forced Irvine to put it on hold.
