European Social Forum London, 14-17 October 2004 It's happening in London The organisers of the European Social Forum (ESF) in London have booked Alexandra Palace, a huge venue in Haringey, which will provide space for tens of thousands of activists.

RESPECT: THE Unity Coalition is gearing up to challenge the mainstream political parties in the 10 June elections. At meetings up and down the country the democratic process of selecting candidates for the European Parliament and Greater London Authority elections set for that day is now under way.

RESPECT HAS been in existence for just over a month, and we have a mountain to climb in a short time if we want to make an impact. There are just 100 days to go to the 10 June elections. We are focusing on the European and Greater London Assembly election on 10 June because they are run on a proportional system rather than the traditional "first past the post" system.

The European Social Forum (ESF) is on course to be held in London this year. There was a real buzz of excitement at a meeting of around 150 activists in London last Saturday-the UK Assembly for the ESF.
