Thousands of people joined protests against racism and fascism across Britain last Saturday

A national demonstration has been called in Birmingham for Saturday to protest at the arrest of former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg on suspicion of terrorism.

Over 200,000 people have signed a petition started by Bristol school student Fahma Mohamed demanding government action over Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). 

Children as young as nine have been referred to the anti-extremism Prevent strategy, reports Judith Orr

Leicester was one of the turning points in the battle to stop the EDL. It was to be the first major UAF demo built locally, despite facing a national mobilisation by the fascists. At the time it represented an attempt to turn the EDL strategy on its head. Instead of them leaving behind local groups, UAF would use the opportunity to put down deep roots.
