The ideological battle between Egypt’s ruling generals and the activists leading the struggle to deepen the revolution in the streets and workplaces has entered a new phase.

Down with the rule of the military criminals! The military junta, who are the sons of Mubarak in power, have added a new crime to their list of offences.

Pierre Chaulet and Claudine Chaulet joined the struggle in Algeria in the early 1950s. They were part of a small group of Algerians of European origin who were committed to the revolution.

For Egypt’s military rulers, the revolution has come to an end. Elections now under way will, they say, produce a new government.

Over 150 people took part in the Students for Revolution conference last weekend, organised by Socialist Worker Student Society (SWSS).

A few miles north of Cairo’s Tahrir Square, Manshiyet al-Bakri Hospital is an unremarkable concrete building. Around a thousand outpatients pass through here every day, mostly drawn from the northern Cairo suburb of Heliopolis.

The revolution in Egypt has inspired millions across the globe. Since the fall of Hosni Mubarak in February, after decades of dictatorship, the process of revolution has continued in every institution of Egyptian society.

Right now Tahrir is surreal. There are enormous numbers of people coming into the square.
