Signallers accept Network Rail deal
More than 5,000 RMT union signallers at Network Rail have voted to accept the revised pay and hours offer recommended by the union.
The RMT union has suspended the strikes, while a new offer is put to members in a ballot. The ballot result is due on July 28 with RMT's general grades committee recommending acceptance of the offer.
Train drivers in the RMT and Aslef unions across the whole of South West Trains are balloting for action following the use of managers to drive trains during recent strikes at Waterloo station.
Pensions campaign
Workers in the RMT and TSSA rail unions were discussing the next stage of their pensions campaign this week after a ballot result, due as Socialist Worker went to press.
The TSSA rail workers’ union conference took place last week as strike ballot papers were about to go out to all TSSA and RMT members on the railways over pensions.
Some 700 RMT members at Go-Ahead’s Wiltshire and Dorset bus operation were to strike for 24 hours on Thursday this week and a further 48 hours on Thursday and Friday next week over pay.
Rail workers win ballot for action
More than 400 platform workers in the RMT rail workers’ union have voted by six to one for action over cuts in the number of station staff on duty on South Eastern Trains.
