Drivers for Centra Buses in Croydon, south London, staged another one-day strike last week. The drivers, members of the RMT union, are involved in a bitter dispute over pay and conditions which stretches back over a year.

Midland: more to join action Rail workers in the RMT union at Midland Mainline are escalating their dispute over safety. Over 160 on-board customer hosts are to ballot for strike action, joining 150 guards who struck for 24 hours on Friday of last week for the fourth time.

Strike vote wins better pay More than 400 bus workers in the RMT union at Stagecoach East Midlands are balloting on an improved pay offer, secured by threatening strike action.

The march organised by the RMT rail union from Glasgow to London demanding the renationalisation of the industry reached the capital last Saturday.

The long march begins This Saturday sees the start of the RMT transport union’s mobile demonstration and campaign against the privatisation of our railways. It will visit 15 British cities, for meetings and events.

TRADE union voices had a strong presence at the Stop the War conference. Bob Crow, general secretary of the RMT railworkers’ union, congratulated the coalition for building and sustaining such a broad campaign.

The RMT maritime union has written to ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne to demand that it assures there will be no worsening of pensions, pay and conditions for its workforce. The company will face a ballot for industrial action otherwise.
