More than 20 students at Warwick university in Coventry occupied the university’s Senate House yesterday, Friday. This morning saw the inaugural meeting of the Protect the Public University campaign inside the indefinite occupation.

Around 70 students demonstrated at the University of London Union on Wednesday of last week. 

Students were set to demonstrate in central London on Wednesday of this week as the University of London trustee board meets to discuss the future of the ULU student union.

The University of London Union (ULU), which represents students at 28 London universities and research institutes, has been marked for closure by 2014.

The government estimates that 40 percent of student loans won’t be repaid. The figure gives the lie to the idea that students leave university and head into well-paid jobs.

Bosses at the University of Central Lancashire (Uclan) in Preston have abandoned plans to privatise the institution after fierce protests from staff and students.
