UCU union members have voted by 64 percent to accept a deal in a long running dispute over pensions. It follows 14 days of strikes at over 60 universities against a plan to turn workers’ defined benefit scheme into a defined contribution one.

UCU members at several universities were set to start a five-day strike on Monday 16 April if the latest offer on pensions is rejected.-

Workers across six further education colleges came to the end of a three-day strike on Thursday. The walkout hit five London colleges and Sandwell College in the Midlands.
