Seven National Union of Teachers executive members visited UCU picket lines at the Institute of Education in central London to show their support.
UCU members were out on strike across Wales today. Union members were on picket lines at Cardiff, Swansea, Aberystwyth and Lampeter universities. They struck as part of a dispute across Britain against attacks on pensions.
University lecturers in the UCU union have voted for strikes to defend their jobs, pensions and pay. The first strikes are set to take place on Thursday of next week.
Lecturers are voting to elect representatives to national officer positions in the UCU and to the union’s national executive committee (NEC) and Scottish executive committee (SEC).
UCU union members at the University of Leeds are balloting for strike action after management failed to honour their side of an agreement reached last year over jobs.
