Three activists in Unison are facing disciplinary action from the union following a walkout in protest at Tony Blair’s speech to the TUC in September this year.
Glasgow City Unison branch is now balloting its members for strike action over a pay review. The review is part of the city council’s single status scheme and involves pay cuts for 4,500 workers.
Coventry council single status protest
Workers in the Unison union protested on Tuesday lunchtime outside a Coventry council meeting as part of their single staus campaign.
At a packed emergency mass meeting organised by the GMB and Unison unions last week, 380 home carers agreed unanimously to go on strike if jobs are lost as part of a social services shake-up.

Members and supporters of Coventry Unison released 3,000 balloons on Hearsall Common last Saturday. They were highlighting their continuing strikes against Coventry council’s imposition of single status pay, and the council’s failure to backdate pay increases to "gainers" under single status.
Keep pushing for pensions debate
The Unison union’s national executive last week voted against a request from the local government service group request for a special conference on pensions.
The Unison union’s judicial review against the government’s plans to axe the "rule of 85" in the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) has been refused.
