NHS workers in the Unite and Unison unions were set to strike on Wednesday of this week at Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Trust against plans to slash pay.

Workers want to fight
As a Unison member fighting for a reject vote in the pensions ballot, it has been great to be able to point to the Unite union health workers and PCS planned national strike on 10 May.
Unite’s executive have voted to name a day for strikes in April if no other union does. The union’s members in the health service have rejected the government’s offer and its members in the civil service are being balloted until 18 April.
Unison health will ballot its members on the offer in April.
GMB has announced a consultation of members on the deal. Ballot dates have not been announced yet.
The British Medical Association and the Royal College of Nursing have already returned big votes to reject the deal.
EIS Scottish teachers’ union members are battling to get strikes put back on after the union’s leadership called off action on 28 March.
The coalition government will have been in office for 680 days on budget day. An average of 625 public sector jobs have been lost on every one of those days, according to figures from the Unison trade union.
