The World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) annual meetings just completed in Singapore were a disaster for the Third World, especially Africans who face a dramatic decline in voting shares on the IMF board, at the same time a few middle-income countries led by China recapitalise the institutions.

Air action over pay

AROUND 1,500 airport staff at London's key airports have voted nine to one in favour of strikes this summer. The staff work for Aviance, which deals with many airlines, including Virgin Atlantic, Monarch, Singapore Airlines and Easyjet. Some 80 percent of their work is at Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
